Amazon to widen Alexa Routine activation option with motion and sound
For making Alexa more flexible and better at recognizing different kinds of sounds and movements Amazon has added more activation options to the Alexa routine. Now, Alexa can be activated by any movement or even by the sound of running water.
Activation options
The idea of adding more options to activate the Alexa routine is made for widening more choices to users. Now, users don’t need to command to make the assistant work as it can detect movements of people and react automatically without uttering a word.
However, this sound detection option is available on any Echo device and the ultrasound option is available on the latest model of Echo and Echo dot.
“For example, set a Routine that enables Alexa to send you a notification when your washer beeps to signify that your laundry is done. Or, have Alexa remind you to turn off the sink if the kids accidentally left the water running after brushing their teeth,” Amazon stated in a Blog while announcing the new extended options.
The Alexa routine and upgrades
Since the day of launching Alexa routine skill, it has been gone through many upgrades which led it to more flexible and better. And now it enables more customization options. You can make Alexa routine work on anything Alexa can do just by typing into the app if it’s not shown in the suggested action. Also, users don’t have to remember precise commands as they can now command anything they want to say.
Amazon started extending their sound option last year by announcing the plans for custom sound event detection that would allow users to train the voice assistant on what to do when it hears any kind of sound.
Besides these, Alexa has also introduced a couple of new features that includes accepting refilling prescription request for Amazon Pharmacy customers by the voice assistant. Also, it’s now able to turn TikTok on their display and show videos on request.
